Layers of Learning Unit 1-18 begins with the first half of the history of Rome.  We include the founding of Rome, how Rome expanded, Roman religion, the establishment of the republic, the legend of Horatius and Cinncinatus, and the fall of the Republic.  Next, in the geography section, kids learn about the physical and political situation of Asia and the culture of Asia.  Then in science learn about trees including transport, chlorophyll, layers of a tree, the carbon cycle, and tree distribution.  Finally, in Roman art, we cover, mosaics, architecture, mythology, fibulas, and frescoes.

In each unit, you’ll find a recommended library list, important background information about each topic, and lots of activities to choose from for kids of all ages.  Sidebars include a bunch more ideas including Additional Layers, Fabulous Facts, On The Web, Writer’s Workshop, Famous Folks, and Teaching Tips.  Printable maps and worksheets are included with each unit and may be printed as often as needed for your family or class.
