There are three major types of government and two major types of economies in the world. You can learn more details about them with our Government Match Game. This trivia game will help you apply the knowledge to features of modern governments and economies. The game can either be played as a learning tool where kids do not know the information prior, but learn it through the course of the game or it can be used as a review for information they have already been taught.
If you want to use it as a review kids should know these things
- definitions of these words: economy, government, efficient, minority, majority
- definitions of the major types of governments
- definitions of the major types of economies
- concept of supply and demand
- concept of rights and where they come from
Government Trivia includes questions about the meanings and definitions of government and economic types, what types of economies or governments specific modern nations have, and how government types and economic types are tied (or not tied) together. We recommend you play the Government Match Game first and then play this trivia game as follow up.
Print the Government Trivia Cards onto card stock or thick paper. There are 36 cards in the set. Cut them apart on the lines.
The answers are given on each card, so the card should be read by the teacher, parent, or moderator. Read and answer the questions. When a question is missed, read the correct answer and place the card back on the bottom of the stack. This is a learning game, but if you want to make it into a competition with points and all, that can be very motivating to some kids. After you finish reading the cards, or perhaps as you go along, take time to discuss the questions and answers. Make sure kids understand the historical context, the meanings of words, and have formed an opinion on the type of government and economy they would like to live under.
