Kids and art are the perfect mix. Most kids are naturally creative and enjoy making things using a variety of media. We usually start each art lesson with a how-to-draw warm-up in our sketchbooks, then either work on a creative art project or learn about a particular artist and then make art based on their style.
Start here with some articles about art and how to teach it.
ART THROUGH HISTORY
In this section we give you art lessons in historical order. These pair well with history lessons, but they also stand on their own. It is important to see the progression of art and art techniques through time.
CRAFTS & TECHNIQUES
Crafts are important because they are fun, they can be used to teach art techniques, and they teach motor skills and following directions.
The explorations on these pages are just the beginning. We created a whole organized curriculum full of hands on projects, printables, and web links to take you through history, geography, science, and the arts with all of your kids from 1st grade to graduation.
