Layers of Learning Unit 4-16 starts with the history of the Vietnam War. We include a map, war protests, Silent Majority speech, Tet Offensive, Huey helicopters, war dogs, American soldiers, fall of Saigon, and the Boat People, plus more. In geography learn about the Atlantic states which includes Pennsylvania, Maryland, New York, Delaware, and New Jersey. Next study food chains, the first unit in our section on ecology. Learn about food chains, food webs, producers, consumers, and decomposers, keystone species, trophic levels, the ecological pyramid, introduced species, and species extinction. Finally in arts take artistic photographs and study some great photographers. Learn the parts of a a camera, make a pinhole camera, learn about pixels, lighting, and framing, and learn other techniques to make your photos better.
In each unit you’ll find a recommended library list, important background information about each topic, and lots of activities to choose from for kids of all ages. It’s rare to find any kind of curriculum that has a unit on photography, but this one does! We combined it with the food chain and went searching for examples in our garden, we had so much fun combining the two!
