Layers of Learning Unit 4-17 starts with the modern history of Latin America. We include the Spanish-American War, Mexican Revolution, Panama canal, Fidel Castro, Juan Peron, the Falklands War, Pinochet and Chile, plus more. Then in geography learn about the New England region. You’ll do explorations on the flag of New England, a New England map, Algonquin tribes, New England food, Maine lighthouses, Vermont covered bridges, New Hampshire fall colors, Massachusetts history, Connecticut dictionary, and a Rhode Island research and find activity. Then in science learn about animal groups which includes herds, packs, symbiosis, mutualism, parasites, populations, and communities. Finally in art learn about South American art. Create projects with bright colors, bold designs, and animal motifs as you learn about Mola, Amate, Mexican, Oaxacan, Chilean, and Huichal art styles.
In each unit you’ll find a recommended library list, important background information about each topic, and lots of activities to choose from for kids of all ages.
