As we started this unit, I didn’t think it would come with fanfare, but it did! Particularly the Tall Tales, I was afraid that they might consider these drudgery…but on the contrary. As I read aloud the tall tales from the suggested literature, I could see all their eyes on me, gripping every word. I loved seeing and hearing how their creativity came out in the accompanying explorations. I loved that we could overlap some of the history explorations with the art explorations. My kids love the mapping explorations, and love the variety with those. The science section is wonderful too. I typically wouldn’t have thought of building a model of a motor, but Layers of Learning made it easy and doable, even giving several variations. This whole unit is Fabulous.

Like all Layers of Learning units, this one is amazing! It’s so hands on, which is fantastic for my child who loves building things. I never would have thought to build a model of a motor, but he’s really eager to do this!
