Layers of Learning Unit 4-9 starts with the rise of totalitarian states including those in Russia, Germany, Italy, China, Cuba, and others. You’ll also learn about dictators, the Weimar Republic, fascism, the political spectrum, the Roaring 20’s, Prohibition, and immigration. Then in geography we delve into economics with activities about money, economic systems, wealth, debt, supply and demand, markets, advertising, division of labor, scarcity, gross domestic product, and charity. Next in science learn about volcanoes including learning the parts and making models, mud pots, geysers, types of volcanoes, and types of eruptions. Finally in arts do lots of hands on work with abstract art and learn about artists including Kandinsky, Mondrian, Picasso, Braque, and Pollock.
In each unit you’ll find a recommended library list, important background information about each topic, and lots of activities to choose from for kids of all ages.
