Layers of Learning Unit 2-19 starts with the Renaissance, Petrarch, and the Medici family. You’ll explore the concept of humanism, learn about the Gutenberg’s all-important printing press, and discuss some of the philosophies of this time. Next, learn about the culture and landscape of modern Italy. Then experiment with magnetism in science. Finally, in the first half of our Renaissance arts, we cover Leonardo da Vinci, the sfumato technique, Michelangelo, and Raphael, some of the great Renaissance artists and art. There are all kinds of fun activities for kids of all ages to explore in this unit, so get your family ready for some family-style learning.
