Layers of Learning Unit 2-12 begins with the history of Eastern Europe. It includes a map of eastern Europe in 1400 A.D., explorations on Hungary, Lithuania and Poland, Serbia, and Bulgaria. In geography, study the modern people and culture of Hungary. Then in science, learn about the chemistry of metals including flame tests, conductivity, the reactivity of alkali metals, and how to chemically identify a metal. Finally, in art try several printmaking techniques and learn about Albrecht Dürer, the great printmaker, and his famous rhinoceros. There are lots of activities to get your whole family exploring these topics in one family-style school.
