Layers of Learning Unit 3-16 starts with the British colonial period in India.  Learn about trade with India, how the British took India, sepoys, the Sepoy Mutiny, and the Raj.  Then in geography study the culture of the modern country of India.  In science do real chemistry with experiments that teach about mixtures and compounds, balancing equations, changes during chemical reactions, composition, decomposition, and single and double displacement.  Last learn about classical music and the composers Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, Haydn, and Mozart.

In each unit you’ll find a recommended library list, important background information about each topic, and lots of activities to choose from for kids of all ages.  Sidebars include a bunch more ideas including Additional Layers, Fabulous Facts, On The Web, Writer’s Workshop, Famous Folks, and Teaching Tips.  Printable maps and worksheets are included with each unit and may be printed as often as needed for your family or class.
