Layers of Learning Unit 1-20 begins with the Roman Empire. This historical period includes Augustus Caesar, the Praetorian Guard, aqueducts and typical Roman homes. You’ll also learn about Hadrian’s Wall and the decline of Rome. The geography in this unit presents lots of projects that can be applied to anywhere in the world. You will choose places that interest you and your child, then explore them with cool projects. Science focuses on fungi. We learn about the anatomy of a fungus, spores, mold, yeast, and growing mushrooms. In the arts section, we’ll learn about how composers write music, the dynamics of music, note names, and the staff. Then we’ll try composing some music.
In each unit, you’ll find a recommended library list, important background information about each topic, and lots of activities to choose from for kids of all ages.
