Layers of Learning Unit 3-9 starts out with the Enlightenment. You’ll learn about Montesquieu, the Grand Tour, Neoclassicism, mercantilism, John Locke, and other philosophers from this time. Then, in geography, explore the Korean Peninsula, contrasting North and South Korea. Discover the people and places that make Korea unique. Next, experiment with light and color. Learn how they are related as you explore optical illusions, prisms, chromatography, and how color filters change the appearance of light. Finish off with learning about art journaling, creating your own art journal and going through some guided activities to fill your journal.
In each unit, you’ll find a recommended library list, important background information about each topic, and lots of activities to choose from for kids of all ages. Sidebars include a bunch more ideas including Additional Layers, Fabulous Facts, On The Web, Writer’s Workshop, Famous Folks, and Teaching Tips. Printable maps and worksheets are included with each unit and may be printed as often as needed for your family or class.
